I am SO HONORED to have been asked to make cards for a local Childhood Cancer organization called Find A Cure. And very lucky to be able to work with such a talented photographer. AND I get to look at these gorgeous little faces while I am playing with paper and ink ;0)

Its a good thing I am not an SU demo. I would hate to have to tell them to BUZZ OFF cause they are so SELFISH!!! I feel sorry for them that they are now going to lose so many talented demos, but they did it to themselves. They should go back to Kindergarden and learn how to share!!

Well anyway...... Here is the first card I made with my Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela Elephant set. Thanks for getting this set made Pam!!! I used the Grass CB folder for the background panel. This lovely card went off in the mail on a long journey to Maine;0)

Yay Hooray the first day of school TODAY!! Had to pull out my Oxford Impressions school set, and Dylan spied this school bus I had forgotten about from All Night Media. How fun!!

Another from Oxford Impressions!! Now that the kids are back in school I can spend a lot more time in the studio. YAY for ME!! Dylan starts in 2 weeks, until then it is me and my little man. Today we have a movie date, time to go!!

When I left FCD last fall I had planned to reapply this year, after all the current DT owes me one right. LOL!!! This is the set Suzanne sent me today as a reward for being published with her stamps. I have some fun stuff planned for these. But the glue is still drying right now. SO keep scrolling to see what I did today.

This ATC I actually made a few months ago, but don't think I ever shared it. The theme for this was favorite quotes, I chose one by Warren Harding which really seemed to fit America today.

Now I am actually ahead of the game since I got these done for July. They will go out in the mail with the ATCs below which were due for May and June. So sorry ladies! Julys theme is Metallics.

This is Junes ATC. The theme is Cuttlebug, or Grungeboard. I used the CB.

And Mays theme was Foreign Lands. Had these started several weeks ago, but never got them done until today, along with all the others. When I got all these done I was just getting going on my walking stick when Lyle suddenly realized he was suppose to go to work 4 hours early. He is going to be so tuckered when he gets home in the morning.

Treasure Hunting at the Tracks

I just had to share this art doll made by Taylor, my 9 year old. Oh Em Geee!!!! (thats how she talks LOL)
We love to go for "treasure hunts" and we go down by the railroad tracks quite a bit. So when we had some unseasonably warm weather about 10 days ago we took my neice and nephew for their very first treasure hunt. We will need to go on a few more before they love them as much as Taylor and I do. But they (all of us) found some great stuff.
Yesterday was the first day of Spring Break and Taylor decided to pull out her bag of treasures and make something. She found an empty nail polish bottle in her room and put this doll together. Everything except the bottle is what she found at the tracks. The only thing I did for her was to color the bottle with Alcohol Inks (I am not willing to give her free reign with my precious inks yet) I think she did such a fabulous job!!

Those are some pretty awesome knee caps. hehehe

I don't know why she gave him a sad mouth, but he looks pretty cool. He even has a cool little hat.

Well since our household size increased by 2 it has gotten a bit harder to find any art time, let alone blog time too. Most of you know that Lyle and I are adopting my neice and nephew. They have been here a week now. Time management has never been my strong point anyway, so we are all learning here.
My MIL is coming to visit, she will be here Sunday. Then the week after she leaves all the kids start swimming, gymnastics, or tea kwon do classes. And at the end of the month I get to go on my annual ( though I missed out last year) Stamp Away Weekend with the girls! Oh so looking forward to that!
So until I have some new art to share- here are some cards I did about a month ago for a SCS challenge. The challenge was to make a card front only, something the kids could use for Valentine cards in class. This one is a good one for the little guys. Dylan is SOOO in to rockets, thanks to Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear. Too Infinity and Beyond!

This one is just cute for any girl. Oh yes, another part of the challenge was we could only use neutral colors, with red or pink. So even though I had intended this card for Shelby, I could not make the bug purple.

Hey, I remembered I had a Fiskars Border Punch, got to pull it out for this one.

This card is BIG! The stamp was big so the card had to be big. It is a full sheet of cs folded in half. Also used SC211 for this one.

$6000 Smile, and dreaming of Spring.

Yep $6000. and she won't even look at the camera hours before those braces come off.

Well they are gone, she is looking at me, but is that a smile? Can't even turn her head towards me. Geez! Is it a rule that turning 13 means, turning against mom? I wanted to take a picture of her in the chair getting them off, but she refused.

Well anyway, I think her smile (on the rare occasion I get to see it) is one of the most beautiful sites in the world.

I started playing with some spring cards last Sunday before the flu hit our house. My poor little man is STILL sick today, but doing much better. The rest of us are a lot better.

So I got to finish up the cards I started. Pamela I need a large size BG texture stamp please!!!!

I love these leaves all popped up in different spots. The petals are roughed and fluffed too.

I just love this tulip set. Love it!!!

Ok, my first ever card with my first ever set of Nestabilities. I was hopeing the layers would be closer in size. Guess I have to buy several sets then huh? Not sure I like them well enough for that. I do want a couple of different shapes, but not all of them, thats just crazy.

I found this pattern paper on the back of the shelf. Must be the first pack of pattern paper I ever bought.

Gosh I am so far behind on cards and ATCs. And I still need to finish the 6th book for my neighbors family. But my little man turned 3 yesterday and that is just more important! When I asked him about 6 weeks ago what he wanted for his birthday, I meant for a present. But his answer was a very excited "I want a Dinosaur Cake" So I just had to make one for him. My dad has a distant cousin who is an expert cake designer. I however do not have that talent. I found directions for this online, and did my best to frost it. Dylan didn't care what the frosting looked like.

He can hardly stand the excitement as I start across the kitchen towards him with his cake.

He starts blowing out the candles before I even have the cake set down.

What a happy guy! And a bit of a grumpy sister.

YAY! WAC A MOLE! He has been wanting this for so long. I found it on clearance at Target.com, it was only $7. something. If you get this for your children you must be someone who is not bothered by noisy toys. He played with this all night, and most of today already. Just pounding and pounding over and over. He really loves it!

Lincoln Tulips Birthday Muse

This was for SC209. The eyes actually stamped beautifully, but whenever I photographed them they got all wavy looking. ??? I used CC199 on this, and IMO it looks a bit Christmasy. But it got good response, so maybe it is just me.

This was CC200, and still SC209. I pm'd Emily and told her there was a great lack of Brilliant Blue in the challenges, so she gave us one last week. YAY!! She said she doesn't like BB, but I love it. I made this for Joys birthday.

This was for SC210. I got this new set from Amazing Arts cause I LOVE LINCOLN! SO I had to have it. Worked out great for the sketch. So what does one do with a Happy 200th Birthday card? This is what :

Cold Enough For Ya?

Did ya miss me? Well I am not going to complain about the weather cause most of the country is suffering through it too. But it is because of how cold it is in my house that I have not been around. It is just too cold to be in the basement very long. So I will post a few things now and get back upstairs.
Here are a few things I got done last week. This first one was the sketch challenge over at SCS last week. It will be Shelbys birthday card next week. Yep my New Years Baby will now be a full fledged teenager. Though she has been acting like one for 3 years already, it will be official next Thursday. WAHHHH!!! She loves that Sassy Happy Bunny so I made her a Sassy Bunny shirt card. LOL!

OH this was the color challenge, well sort of. It was actually Orchid, Saffron, and Coral. But I do not have any Coral because I do not like it. SO I changed it to Real Red. Nope I do NOT like these colors together. But I had to make a card with that cute little Cardinal:)

A checkbook cover my sister has been begging me for. Hmmm, I did this for a challenge, but I can not remember what it was.

This was the hardest card I ever had to make. My oldest dearest friend Dawn lost her mother a couple of weeks ago. When her dad past away 1 1/2 years ago I made a card for her, and one for her mother. For some reason those cards were not as hard to make. I actually had to put off making this for a couple of days. It is a mother/daughter thing I guess. I was not able to attend the funeral which is also upsetting. It is just too hard to get so far away during the school year/winter. But my sister, and my mom went to show support to Dawn for me. I love you Dawn!! You are in my thoughts always!!

I guess I'm a redneck after all :)

We have enjoyed the redneck jokes for years. It's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up. Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit -- that's what rednecks are made of. Marys Lamb Got Suspended

Instead of hearing children laugh, We heard gun shots and tears.

What is up with the DMV?

So today I had to go renew my drivers license. And I would just like to know- Is it a requirment to work at the DMV that you are Mean, Nasty, and Pushy?
I mean seriously is your job so bad that you can't say something nice to a person or look them in the eye?
Gee I wish tax payer dollars would pay me to sit on my fat ass all day long and talk to so many different people! I could certainly think of something nice to say to them, and give a bit of a smile, especially during the CHRISTMAS SEASON!!!
Now I am not exagerating, nor making light of one persons attitude. I had to deal with 4 people while I was there today and only the last person had a kind word or even a bit of a smile. I remember being treated the same way the last time I had to go there. They may have remodeled the look of the place, but they sure need to do a lot of work on customer service!!

This weeks creations

I probably won't have time to do the SCS challenge tomorrow so just going to post what I have done the rest of the week. Then I can go work on another project. I started 3 or 4 canvas' several weeks ago that I need to get back to.
So this was for Mondays challenge. Remember the little vellum votive shades we were crazy for about 10 years ago. Well we were to make one of them. I had chosen this FCD snowperson set for my set of the week. I wasn't sure he would fit on here at first, but he just made it.

Of course why bother making a lamp shade at Christmas time, if it isn't Electric Sex Gleaming in the Window. LOL!!! It HAD to be done!!!

Tuesdays color challenge was Real Red, Tempting Turqoise, Sage Shadow and Whisper White. I had been thinking about this Christmas Rose card for a while and these colors were perfect for it.

And of course the color challenge with my stamp for the week. He seems to be very happy with these colors doesn't he?

Wednesdays sketch challenge. I didn't think it would work with this set, but I just made it a 5 X 7 instead of A2 size and it worked just fine.

Todays challenge was to use half of a stamp. I still had to use the snowperson, so I made a snow scene and buried that snowperson in a lot of snow.

Here they are! The last 2 cards for the week with the pointsettia stamp. They were cased from Annas Creations at SCS. I have purused her gallery before because Ursula pointed the FCD gals to it. What a fab gallery!! She is very talented, I would love to do stampscapes like she does.
Anywho- I think I am going to give this challenge another go this week. Since we already have twice as much snow as we did at this time last year (which was the 5th snowiest on record) and we are expecting a boat load more on Tuesday I am going to play with a snowman set all week. I just haven't decided which one yet. Check back in a couple days to see what it is.

Yesterdays challenge was to use only snowflakes and a single word on our card, and it had to have bling. So I broke the rules just a little bit and turned my Pointsettia into a snowflake. Wendy didn't mind:)

Thursdays challenge was to use and envelope on our card, or make a matching envy. I made an envy on my card.

And this was for Wednesdays sketch challenge.

So I have 1 day left of my own personal challenge with this stamp. I wonder whose gallery we will be peaking into tomorrow for the Featured Stamper challenge. This was a fun challenge for myself. I think I will try it a lot more often.

Or stay here and check out my reproductions. Hehehe! Well I should get credit for trying anyway right. I didn't get them posted before so I will start with tag 3. Of course I own grundgeboard, distress inks, and alcohol inks. But can you believe I have no TH stamps, no fragments, no phylosophy tags, no trinket pins. I know I know I know, trust me it is on my Resolustion List!!! So I am working with what I do have and I think things are coming out pretty cool. I am going to see if I can do all 12 tags with 12 different stamp companies. My santa is a bit small for the tag, but he looks good. This tag actually has 2 companies, cause it just worked better that way. This has Serendipity Stamps, and Clear Artistic Stamps. No fragments? You have been saving your cuttlebug packs right? Cut the shape you want out of that, its thicker than acetate sheets so it works pretty good. I actually put mine in the Cricut to get a decent shaped oval.

Tag 2. Ok not so Christmasy but pretty anyway! This one is all Oxford Impressions.

Tag 1. No lamp post to be found in this house. So I went with the next best thing. This one is all I Brake For Stamps.

Joy don't peak!!!
I got a really nice Christmas Plate from I Brake For Stamps. My plan is to use the Pointsettia to make several different cards from all the SCS challenges this week. They will be the cards I give for my swap next week when I meet with my stamp group. This first one is for todays color challenge- Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Sahara Sand. I colored what would be the red leaves with 3 layers of SS. I covered the whole thing with PE. I added black pearls in the center.

This was for the tech challenge yesterday- the Simple Green Spritz tech. After I did the tech I embossed snowflakes all over the tech sheet. I colored the pointsettias with twinks and added gems to the center.

This was last weeks color challenge which I forgot to post. I was so glad Emily chose Really Rust, Going Gray, and Very Vanilla for the challenge, cause I wanted to use this turkey so much. It sure looks delicious doesn't it! Really Rust is the perfect color for this bird. Of course he is covered with crystal effects too.

I don't think I got this one posted, if I do oh well now its here twice. hehehe! I've had this stamp for a couple of years. It is a really large stamp, so hard to figure out how to work with it. But this color challenge a couple weeks ago just brought it to life!!!

My MIL asked me to make some cards for her with pics of my FIL on them. Like the one I made for her using a photo of him as a student. I made a few and sent them off, completely forgetting to scan them. DARN!
Well yesterday would have been his 70th birthday. We made birthday cake in honor of him. He was such a great man and we still miss him so much! SO I thought I would share a few photos of him. This first one is his military photo. He was in Company C 3rd Battalion - 3rd Platoon.

Here he is with my Shelby and our nephew. This is my favorite photo ever. I wish I had a better camera back then and could have zoomed in a bit on this.

And here is Shelby with Grandpa and Grandma. This was the last photo I got of her with both of them. Since she was so young when he died she doesn't have much memory of him. Of course Taylor never met him, but she talks about him all the time and seems to miss him more than anyone, isn't that strange?

I had this beautiful green shimmer paper I got in a technique swap that I wanted to use and this challenge was perfect. I used the same paper, the same stamp set, and the same embely for both cards, but both are completely different.

These 2 cards were inspired by last weeks SCS sketch challenge.

And this one also incorporates the SCS color challenge. I LOVE sketches!!! They are almost as inspiring all by themselves as the Sunday ads are. Put them together and you can come up with some really great stuff.

It's Time To Move Forward and Heal

My plan was to create this card for Veterans Day. But since the election is over and we have a new president I think I will go ahead and post it. There are big changes in store for us. It doesn't matter who you voted for. Obama is the president elect and it is time for us to look forward and make some changes for our future. We can only wait and see right!

Did you know Ranger has created some Distress Stickles? Seriously! Check out Tims blog they are so cool. Of course I do not have any, and did not want to use bright yellow stickles on my stars, but I had some gold glitter paint which worked great. I thought I was done with this card, but it really seemed to be missing something. Ribbon to the rescue of course. I am so so happy with this card!!!

Well I finally recieved my Masculine Chunky Book! Jan has been running around like a mad woman, but did get the books sent out. I actually recieved mine last Thursday, but was too sick to post. I think the nurse practitioner at my local clinic is crazy. But this post is about my book sooooo Here it is! This first page was done by Alyce. WOW! I can't believe it has been almost 3 weeks since I posted something. Time just flies by doesn't it!
I guess I should share a few things I have done these past weeks. This first one is the card I made for last weeks Limited Supplies challenge- only cardstock, DP, eyelets, 1 piece of ribbon, no other tools or embies! Oh and it had to have blue in it.

This was for the Monogram challenge.
A couple of coffee cards for fun. Used the Camouflage tech for the background. Got the idea to add the calendar from another beautiful card posted on SCS for the Orange Coffee card challenge not to long ago.

For last weeks Color Challenge, and Sketch Challenge. LOVE THIS!!! SO GIRLY!!! Going to make a bunch of these for birthday parties.

Searitas Book

Here is the book I have been working on for my neighbor Searita. She was so happy when I gave it to her that she cried, then ordered 3 more books.
This is a gift for her mother. She wanted angels, leather, and accordians to represent her father. For the cover I did the Faux Seude tech because I think it looks and feels more like aged leather than the masking tape tech does. I also did it on a large piece of yellow/gold mulberry paper which really gave it the leather look. Dear Rockin Robin was kind enough to send me some wings she cut out of aluminum. They really worked for this. I swiped some white Stazon over them.
I wanted the words in the book to be Spanish. Several companies have Spanish greetings stamps, but not what I needed. Luckily- Innovative Stamp Creations had just what I needed. I only had to print out 2 words that were not on the plate. The cover reads You're Unforgettable. I also got help from Sonia D. because I do not speak or read Spanish. She helped me with the words I needed to type up and print out. Also gave me leads on Spanish newspapers I used for the back ground papers, and for some other embellies I will probably use in the next 3 books :o)
This page has the only photo she has of her father. The top reads Our love is eternal. The other words are husband, father, grandfather, and Love.
Sheet music is from I Brake For Stamps. I picked up the Notes at The Rubber Room, but don't know who made them. The word is Memories from Innovative Stamp Creations.
Normally I like to have 3 pages in these books. But after 2 pages I was stumped. I just didn't know enough about this man. But I thought the Mexican flag would be a nice addition to the book. And of course another angel, since the only other angel is a charm on the cover. I had a really hard time finding free clip art angels that might work. Angels are all so different! But I had this SU stamp so I stamped her on vellum, colored her from the back and sprinkled glitter over the front. Searita was happy with her! The words on this page read Thinking of You.

Well it seems I have fallen a bit behind again. But I am going to use the problem with my neck as an excuse :o) I had the MRI this morning, so I will find out on Wednesday what the problem actually is.
So here is last weeks color challenge- Real Red, Artichoke, and Basic Grey
This one was for the sketch challenge. This are some of my favorited FCD stamps.
The Limited Supplies challenge was to use White, with only 2 other colors. Even coloring the stamped image we were only to use 2 colors. Friday was Talk like a Pirate Day. Since Lyle is such a Pirate fanatic I made this card for him. Cornish Heritage Farms had them on clearance recently so I had to grab them up.
The coffee cards were made for swaps. FCD stamps to add to my coffee stamp collection.
Isn't this one great! Lisa G. did the background tech and it is so shimmery. I think she added some PE powders to the paint. It is really gorgeous!

I got an email from Lyles uncle explaining some of the photos on the chunky book pages I did. It may be of interest to some of you. Here is what he had to say.
The picture of the three men standing near the railroad drawbridge was taken during World War One. The man in the center is my Grandpa Heinrich von der Heide. I do not know where the picture was takenThe picture of the two soldiers was taken during World War II. The man on the right was my mom's brother Gustav von der Heide and the man on the left was my mom's cousin Helmut von der Heide.The picture of Uncle Fred in the garage was taken in a Ford/John Deere garage in Elgin. He did no own a shop but worked there as a mechanic.

Thanks SO MUCH Judy!!! You don't know how much this meant to me today! All 3 of my kids have colds. Taylor has been calling home all week, begging for me to come and get her cause she is too sick to stay in school. Umm no kiddo, you just have a cold, toughen up a little bit! So every evening when she gets off the bus we have to hear for hours how rotten we are for not letting her come home when she is so sick!
I spent my morning first in one doctors office learning that I have to have another foot surgey. Then on the phone with someone from a company who owes me money but doesn't feel like writing any more checks this month. Then on the phone with another doctor discussing insurance issues cause my doctor wants an MRI to find out why my arms keep going numb. So while I was waiting for Taylors chicken noodle soup to cook (yes she is home sick today) I went out to get the mail. When I saw the envelope from Judy my tears dried right up. What a wonderful RAK! Thanks Judy!

Well everyone is finishing up their pages and getting them mailed so I guess I can go ahead and post this now. I am so excited to start seeing everyones pages!!!

I finished my pages for the masculine swap. What an exciting book! Gosh I can hardly wait to get the finished book back and see what everyone else has done. I did all of my pages with old family photos. I think it was more fun that way. Here is everything I made.

I love this cover!!! This was so much fun to make. That big rusty washer was something Taylor brought home from the park. She is always finding little treasures over there. Most things I tell her have to go in the garbage, but this one was a beauty and I had to have it. She is so sweet it didn't even cost me anything. That big mesh type thing showed up one day about a year ago. I think it was another of Taylors findings, but I threw it in my art box before she claimed it.

If I remember correctly Lyles Great Uncle Fred owned a repair shop. I believe this is his place. That is him over on the left.

This is my signature page on the back of each page. A couple of the other ladies asked for an extension on this book. I was grateful for that since I hadn't done the backs of any of my pages. Of course then I took on several other projects and didn't have time to create so many different signature pages. I liked how this looked anyway so I did all of them this way.
And this is the inside of the back cover. What a fun fun book this was to work on. And I am glad all these talented artists were part of it. As soon as I get the finished book back I will get all their pages posted.

ISCC12 This one is for the sketch challenge over at ISC. I gave her 3 layers. I think she looks so FAB this way. She also has some gorgeous bling for eyes. Now that I have pulled this set out, I am getting all kinds of fun ideas to do with it again. I am never going to get completely organized in my new studio, cause I have to keep pulling things out before everything is put away. Oh well! I am having fun, broken toe or not!

Coffee and Junk!!!

Well since I am moving my studio and dug this out I thought I would post it. One thing I enjoy doing is painting on cork. I did this one over a year ago. I put it away until I found something to finish off the frame with. Out of sight out of mind right! Well I am going to keep it out now until it is finished this time. Taylor is such a good junk finder. When she was little it use to really bug me that she would come home with all this obvious junk! What did she need those things for anyway, what did she see in those things at such a young age. Well here she is at the tender age of 8 and she brought home the most fabulous rusty bit this summer. Of course I asked straight away if I could have it. She is such a sweety, she said yes. It is proudly placed on the cover of my Masculine Chunky book (which I will be sharing soon) I told her "my dear sweet Taylor, you may continue to collect your junk pieces, but you must not pick up sharp things, and please do share with mommy" I think she enjoys her junk hunts even more now. So tonight she brought me a bag full of goodies, which I have yet to sort through. I'm sure there must be something in there to throw on here!

Sponge Bob, Pumpkins, Giraffes, and Cuttlebugs

This morning I was ready to get right to the SCS challenge which was to use specialty paper. But Dylan had other plans, he wanted to play. So I said lets make a SpongeBob card. He sat and watched me make it every step of the way. Asking questions, helping out. He is such a cute little artist!! As soon as the card was done he couldn't stop smiling, and giggling. So I asked him if he wanted a Patrick card. OF COURSE he did! He was playing with these things all day. Of course Shelby and Taylor came home from school and pointed out that I forgot Spongebobs nose. BARNICLES!!!!
Then Dylan started asking for the rest of the characters. Gary and Plankton were easy. He really wants Squidward though. Mmmm that might be a bit tougher to do, maybe just the head I think.
I was able to get to the specialty paper though. I used some of the tan and some of the green, prestamped, and prediecut velvet paper. Along with many many FCDbP pumpkins. Makes me anxious for the leaves to change.
This was the card I did for yesterdays sketch challenge. I used the new leaf CB folder, and the tiny mosaic folder. The mosaic is so perfect for giraffe cards.

Well I have been right here! Pretty much glued to my studio chair. I have been working on a good sized order of football cards, and trying to do as many SCS challenges as I can. Today I covered the SCS challenge and an old Wednesday challenge for my WI group. This first card is a photo Lisa posted for the Wednesday challenge a couple of months ago. I actually just got to it. It is such a great photo I printed several photos in 2 sizes. This was the second card I made with the image for the Monochromatic challenge. I will have to make a 3rd though because right after I posted it my mail arrived with my new CB folders. YAY!!!
The leaves are SU, Courage is Onyx Xpressions.
Here is the first card I did with the nude image. This one is 6X6. Vision is Onyx Xpressions.
This one was for the Black Magic tech challenge. This one is 5X7. Stamps are Oxford Impressions.

This was done with the Faux Dry Emboss tech. Stamp is from Blockhead.
And the football cards I have been working on. I made SO MANY! The stamps are Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela. Yep I went with the same layout as my Packer cards for a few of these. Geez their not my teams I don't want to work too hard on them. :)
No this is not Da Bears! It is Broncos. Bears blue is darker.
So NOT Americas Team! But I really like the card.
Oh it burned to make these! It really burned! These colors should not even be in my house. LOL!!!!!

Not So Mythical Serenity

Have you heard of Hotel Fox? It is in Copenhagen, Denmark. It has 61 rooms. Each room has a different theme, all of which were designed by 21 different artists. Todays inspiration comes from this hotel. IC143 at SCS.
My first card was inspired by room 509 Kings Court. I had planned something completely different but got sidetracked and ran out of time so I had to put this together quick.
This card was inspired by Room 405 Lifelines, and Room 304 Self Confidence. This is by far my favorite of the 2.

This one was for SC191, and Krafty Black Roses :) First time these stamps have seen ink. Perfect sketch for these stamps. This disappered from my gallery over night too. I HATE when that happens.

The FCDbP girls and I were discussing owls the other night. I remembered I had this owl stamp which had never seen ink. So I had to dig it out and play. I did the Metallic Alcohol Roll tech. So much easier than trying to color all these owls.

Silly Boy

It is so tough to be 2 years old. You just get tuckered out so quick. Just can't make it through a full day of activities without a power nap.
Well when your day starts out with this much destuction you have to have a rest period. First throw a bunch of books on the floor. Then dig out a lot of toys and put them everywhere. Next..
After several weeks of string ribbon all over the house it is time to move on to toilet paper.
Don't forget to hit the big sisters room too!! Now can I have some breakfast please?

Still playing with Oxford Impressions

I have been very busy the past two weeks making things with my OI stamps. But they are all off in the mail, hopefully to be shared another time another place. Hmmmmm!
But this picture is the biggest reason I wanted the School Days set in the first place. This Fantabulous photo is of my FIL Rudy. Here he is bundled up and ready for his walk to school on a cold, (and strangely snowless) winter day in North Dakota. I got a new set of Zig Photo Twin markers today, but ended up using my original set for this photo anyway. The new ones didn't work so well on this photo. Lyle and I have been thinking about Rudy a lot lately. We sure miss you Dad!!!
One of my neighbor girls came over at 6:00 tonight. She said, "my dad wants to know if you can all come over at 7:00 for my brothers birthday party" Darn, I don't have any little boy Bday cards ready. So glad I got this SU set last fall, and the HB from TAC. I love using them together.

Children and Art Supplies

My son is like a little kitten! He has such a blast unrolling my ribbons all over the house, up and down the steps, over and around furniture, then bringing me the cardboard roll and saying "roll it back mom" He has been doing this for well over a month, and I spend most of my day rolling up my ribbons. Last night he wrapped a length of ribbon around a leg on my sewing table several times. Then he got mad when he couldn't pull it for me to roll it up. He also loves my sponges. He insists they are Sponge Bob (yellow), Patrick (pink), Mr. Crabbs (red) and Squidward (blue). Even when I have them cut up into 1 inch squares he will try to take them out of my hand when I am using them. He will be crying "my Sponge Bob" What a funny little character he is.
This one is not so funny, it makes me want to cry! A couple of weeks ago both girls, and one of their friends were using my supplies to make cards for their camp counselors. Several days afterwards I grabbed my Crop a Dile and found it broken. HOW can a little girl break a Crop??? Weren't the crops suppose to be industructable? Ok maybe not! But I still have no idea how they could have done this. And now I am back to pounding my eyelets until I can afford a replacement crop. I am so sad! But I am happy that all of my children love art as much as I do. Edited to add- The pin like part that goes inside the small size eyelets is indeed broken off. But it is good to know someone is actually reading my blog! Thanks!

This is from my new Oxford Impressions set -School Days. What is up with the pencil? It isn't looking good! I can not find a decent ink for that thing. Oh well, I guess that is an excuse to keep playing isn't it. :0)

I have been so busy working on these dog/cat cards for my sisters friend. I think I have about 40 of them so far. Well I think it is time to get them sent to her, and work on some other things for a while. Here are several of the cards. I love this first one, this dog is my favorite!!! Isn't he just so cute!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this card by Cindy Haffner!!!!!! Taylor is such a horse lover. I have got to get this stamp and totally CASE this card. For now I tried to do a bit of a CASE for a cat card.
And this is what I came up with. Not quite as good as Cindys, but still nice. I watercolored this one.
And this is the only other cat card I have made for my sisters friend so far. Maybe I will get some more made up next week.

I have wanted one of these for SOOOO LONG!!!!!!! I didn't even know anyone REALLY made them, until last fall when I made my leg lamp earrings. Well then several people told me they had a leg lamp, or knew someone who owned one. So I did a google search and found many places who had them, but of course they were out of my price range. Well finally I found a place that had an affordable lamp all for me. I ordered it last week, and was completely surprised when I recieved an email on Saturday saying it had been shipped. Then it actually arrived TODAY!!!! I am so happy to have it!!!! Of course Shelby is completely embarrassed and said "none of my friends can EVER see this" Well I am keeping it right by the computer so I guess this means she will finally keep her friends off of my computer. So YAY for that too!!! Hehehe!!!

More Masculine pages

I was so nervous to get started on this swap, but I am having so much fun!!! I am enjoying this one more than I did the Vintage Women swap. Of course on that swap I made all my pages the same. On this page I used the Zig photo markers again. I don't have all of them, and I really NEED them. I kept getting either green or orange hair on the boys. It does look quite orange here again, but that is just from the scan. I really did get it toned down to a nice blond color by going over the marker with a white prisma pencil. This is the page I want to keep for my book (well I really want to keep them all, but that isn't fair). The little guy here is my FIL when he was about the same age as my son is now. My son looks so much like him, with the grumpy look on his face and all. So this is my favorite page so far.
This page came together so easy thanks to Barbara W. who sent me all the old German books, and Etha S. who told me the old German word for gentleman. Once I decided on this picture of Lyles grandfather, I just had to go with a "Gentleman" theme.
I like most of this page, just still undecided on the letters I added. I might take them off and add some kind of hardware.

I have been very busy since returning from vacation. But I always have to make time for art. This is my first page of the Maculine Chunky Book swap I am in. I didn't really like any of the collage sheets I have for this project. So I am returning to the old family photos I got from Lyles uncle. This page has a photo of Lyles grandfather. I started out with the Textured Metallics tech from the April 06 issue of Technique Junkies. I have NO IDEA if grandpa was a Republican, but I had the paper and the antique copper letter. I really like how this page came out!

So this is my last month on the team, and here are a few of my last projects. I made a few cards, but I also HAD to make a little book! I just couldn't help myself.

Black and White cards are just so elegant, aren't they. I am very pleased with this card.

And here is the little book! These are SO MUCH FUN!!! I just love making these books. I took all my books with me when we went back home. My family really liked them. I had to give some away as gifts. I actually left one for my aunt and uncle and didn't tell them. They noticed it on top of their curio cabinet after we left. When I got home there was a very nice thank you message from them on my voice mail.
For the pages of this book I used the Faux Handmade Paper tech from the recent issue of Technique Junkies. I really like this tech, even though it is so messy. I don't mind all the paint on my fingers at all.

This is a gift for my neice. I did this using the Acrylic Gesso Wash tech (Technique Junkies NL June 07) and then the Cling Pearls tech (TJNL Oct. 07)over it.
This one is for my nephew. This one also has the Cling Pearls tech. And the letters are done with the Simple Green Spritz tech (TJNL April 08)

I made this card for the color and sketch challenges this week on SCS. I have been anxious to use the sheet music background that I recently got from I Brake For Stamps. The other stamps are from Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela, and Impression Obsession. I think this will go to Shelbys music teacher.
For a "Bit about Me Skinny Swap" I struggled with this one a lot, but I really like how it finally came out.
Monogram ATC swap. What was I thinking signing up for this one? Great thing my swap partner was Barbara so of course I had a B. I hope you like it Barbara!
I stuggled with this one a bit too, but it came out really great! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the musical HAIR. SO when I signed up for the "Hair" swap I knew I would incorporate part of the song. I kind of wish the swap had been for a skinny though, so I could have added more of the song.
Lyle had never seen the musical, so when I rented it a few years ago I thought he would enjoy it. Especially since his hair was down to his waist at the time. But he didn't get it at all. Oh well! I still enjoy it!

Pamela has named this stamp set Hangin Around Scarecrow, but I like to call him Hang Around Hal! When I was looking through the gallery of this weeks featured stamper Jennifer I was specifically looking for a card I could case to using Hang Around Hal! My first try at wire bugs, super easy!

This one is all Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela. Mixed up a couple of her scene stamping sets for this. In real life most birds FREAK ME OUT!!! Don't really like them at all, but I LOVE CARDINALS!!! There is a pair in our yard every year. I am sure they are the same pair that keep coming back and I keep taking pictures of them every year. I was so happy to see that Pamela had included a Cardinal in her new scene set. Had to grab that up right away!!!

I had been wanting this Daddys Hands set from Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela for a while. Then when I finally got it and looked at it, looking was all I could do. I was so stumped! So I decided to make cards for Lyle, one from me, and one from each kid. Since the kids are so far apart in age, and have different personalities, interests, favorite colors, it just might work. Well it did! This first one of course is from Dylan.

This one I shared earlier in the week since it is based on a card from the featured stamper on SCS. This one will be from me.

And this one will be from Taylor of course!
This card I did based on this weeks sketch challenge at SCS. I used Oxford Impression stamps. I wasn't too sure about it at first, but I really like it now.

Little Books

I thought it was about time I posted a few of these little wooden books I have been working on. This first one is my favorite. It is 3 1/4" tall and 3" wide. It only has 1 page in it. All the stamps are from Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela, except the sig. stamp is from OnyxXpressions.

This one is 3 1/2" tall and 2 3/4" wide. It also has 1 page in it. Stamps are Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela, Inque Boutique, and Impression Obsession. Also has some Grungeboard on the back page.

This is the smallest book, 2 1/2 " tall X 2 1/4" wide. This book has 2 pages. All stamps are Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela. I really wanted some golden yellow, or orange ribbon, but it is hard to find fall colors in the spring.

As soon as I saw "Butterfly Nirvana" on the OnyxXpressions site, I knew I had to have it to make this book. This one is 3" tall X 2 3/4" wide. Stamps are OnyxXpressions, and Innovative Stamp Creations.

I am having so much fun with these little books. I have about a dozen more already painted, just need to be decorated and put together.

Sorry I have been absent for so long. We suffered a devastating loss and I had to take some time to mourn. But like I always say "art is therapy" So after a couple days of mourning I did start creating again. But then the headaches set in. My stress always comes through in a killer headache. They haven't turned into migraines this time so thank God for that!!
Anyway I received my Vintage Women Chunky Book swap today. I shared the cover of my book a while ago. I want to share the entire book now. There were some amazing artists in this swap!!!

Just so you know I actually have been creating this week I thought I would post this quick too. It actually isn't done yet, cause I am waiting on an order of larger wire, this stuff just fits it doesn't close. The covers of this book are wood. They use to be a wood mounted stamp. Since I am a nekked stamper though I pulled the stamp off a long time ago. So I cut the block in half to make this book. It will be an anniversary present for Lyle. The picture was taken I think about 1991. Can you believe I could not find any recent pics of us together? Seems there is always a kid in the photo with one of us but never us together! Unbelievable right! LOL!
There are just 2 pages in the book, and the whole book has several different techs in it. I will probably share some more pics of it when it is done.

Ok Jan I am doing this at your urging. Since it is after midnight I am going to do it quick before I lose my nerve then run up to bed and forget about it!!!
Since the family portrait I painted in high school this is the first canvas I have done that will be seen by anyone outside of my family. This particular canvas has been done, re gessoed, and done again 4 times. The original painting I wanted texture, so this canvas has a couple things on it to add texture which so do not go with the roses. But once I got going on this idea I didn't want to stop. Also my shading is terrible. I have never been good at that. The roses are a few of my own drawings so I am proud of those! The canvas is 16x20. I think I will go ahead and seal this and keep it just to remember not to do this again!

And this is one I did with stamps from Rubber Stamp Ave using a vaseline resist tech.
And here is my little artist at work again. Since we got new carpet in the living room a few months ago the kids have enjoyed drawing in it, or making impressions in it with things. Taylor drew Spongebob tonight. He is big, maybe 3 1/2 feet by 2 feet. She is so funny! But what a good job she did huh?

Remember when Tim Allen made this crazy noise whenever he talked about power tools? Usually when I tell Lyle I need new stamps or some new art supply his eyes glaze over, and I am quite certain the only thing he really hears is "blah blah blah". This morning I told him "I am working on a new project and I need a power tool. Would you go buy me one" I don't think I had all the words out of my mouth and he was SPRINTING into another room to get his shoes on! When he got it home and had to put it together he didn't swear a single time. HA! A man and power tools. No different than a kid in a candy store right!
Well I haven't finished that new project, but here is a card I made a couple days ago. The only stamp on here is the word Elegant which is from Lasting Impressions with Panache. Sorry I can't tell you where the photo is from, I got it from Lisa G. but I don't know where she got it from. The background is the new Waxy Cuttlebug tech created by Vada.

Birthday Inspired!

Well this one wasn't birthday inspired, it is todays color challenge on SCS. The stamps are from Oxford Impressions. The colors for the challenge are Basic Black or Basic Gray, Whisper White, and Bashful Blue.
But these ones are for a few birthday parties the girls are going to this week. The stamps are from SU and TAC. I am so glad I finally have these, I haven't had many birthday stamps before so I always struggled to make cards for the parties the girls went to. The cuttlebug folder really helps too.

I have no new art to share today, but I picked up a few things at Barbras Rubber Room today, and have a few new ideas swimming around my scattered brain. So with any luck I will get something made tonight.
While I was there I ran into my good friend Heidi. She is originally from England and had brought a freind of hers who is visiting from England. Heidi is teaching her friend how to stamp. She said she doesn't know any one back home who stamps. I am going to try fixing that dillema for her!!

Me, My Muse, and My Budding Little Artist!

Apparently my Muse has gone south for warmer weather! I have been feeling totally uninspired. The snow has been melting fast enough, and thankfully we didn't get the snow storm like most of the state got today. But the ground is an icky brown color, it is too cold to do anything outside, and I am just feeling BLAH! I did create this card for the color challenge on SCS earlier this week. Actually this is the second card I made, because the first one was no good. But it took me a couple of days to get the feel for this card.
Today is the first day of "SPRING VACATION" ( I hate spring break, but that is another story) So already after spending a couple of hours out in the cold on the trampolene, spending most of the day with her best friend, and going to her Girl Scout meeting tonight, Taylor announced she was BORED!!! She wanted to make a card for her daddy and it had to have glitter. She wanted to know how to make the glitter look like a stamp. So she picked out some stamps, I showed her how to use the glue pad and she made this card for Lyle. The front is suppose to look like a face.
Then she wanted to know how to make glitter look like lace so I showed her how to do that, and she added it to the inside of the card. Then she drew a frame around it with a crayon. Then she had me write- Dear Daddy, Me & Mommy feel so bad that you have to work so much. Love Taylor, & Mommy.
I know just TOO CUTE right!
Well hopefully we will have sunshine, green grass, and warm weather soon and my Muse will return! Until then Happy Easter!

Remember this card? I sent this to Lyles aunt, who is the little girl in the photo. She really liked it! Today I recieved a real treasure from her. She sent me a letter Lyles grandmother wrote to her in 1973!!! In the letter grandma talks about my BIL and several of Lyles cousins as babies. It was a real treat to recieve this. Thanks Aunt Margie!!!

I was so anxious for my mail carrier to arrive today. I just KNEW my new Fire Cracker Design stamps would be there. And they were! Of course then I had to spread the glue on them and wait for it to dry. Oh the AGONY of the wait! But the glue did dry, I got them cut out and whipped up this card. I also used the Metallic Alcohol Roll tech from Oct. 07 issue of Technique Junkies, and one of my new cuttlebug folders. It is so hard to choose which folders to use all the time. I love them all. But I really love this new stamp set and can't wait to play with it some more tonight. I have a lot of ideas for it already!

For the card lottery in my WI group. It was my turn to pick the theme and I decided on Paradise. Of course then I had the hardest time decided how to make my card. It took me forever to get this extremely simple card made. Glad I don't have to pick the theme every month! Todays color challange on SCS- Basic Black, Basic Grey, Purely Pomegranate. I don't buy many of the IN colors but I did happen to buy the PP and the matching ribbon. So I did get to participate in this challenge. I used my Cricut to make the flowers. Didn't have any black brads so had to color some green ones, also had some bling brads that match quite well. Can't remember the stamp company these are from, I picked them up from Barbras Rubber Room a couple of years ago.

Today I thought I would go through my SCS gallery and pick out some of my old cards to redo. I picked out a few and changed the stamps I used, colors, and embies. All stamps are Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela.

On this one I also changed the layout just a bit. That white blob in the middle of the flower is not really a white blob, just a bit of a divet in the UTEE that the scanner really emphasized.

We were to use our computer to create something for our card. I used the computer to create the word search.

I can't get Red-Castle to work right now so you get this card full sized!

I knew this day would eventually come. It has been talked about for several years now. But I was not prepared to hear the words this morning. I will always remember this day as one of the saddest days of my life- Brett Favre has retired! Had I known this would have been his last season I would have recorded every game so when my son is old enough he could see the greatest football player ever in action. Though I am sure the NFL will put the entire season out on DVD and I will be able to purchase them at the Pro Shop soon.

I know he will continue his good works with his many charities here in Title Town, so we will see him around town now and then. But it will never be the same!

Thanks for the great memories Brett! You will be missed!!!

I forgot to post this card when I made it last week. I used the Dry Emboss Wash tech from Dec. 07 TJNL. The stamp is from Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela. It says "I wish from the bottom of my heart always for you to be happy and healthy" Or something close to that. I have not yet learned to speak or read German! But since the family members who will recieve these cards do I am so happy to have these stamps!

I know the calender says that spring will be here in less than 3 weeks. But since the winter has already been so long and miserable we are just tired of waiting. Since Dylan has mostly recovered from his eye injury, and has been going stir crazy all winter, I told Lyle to bring the basketball hoop in. Of course it is still full of snow and ice. We just set it on top of a blanket, and threw some towels down to catch the ice dripping off the rim. Dylan is having a blast!!! He's pretty good at it already too. I think we might need to raise it up a bit when we get to play outside again.
Nothing but net! er rim! LOL!

But today while DS was taking a nice long nap and MIL was slaving away in my kitchen making 10 pans of carmel rolls I got caught up on the Wednesday challenges Lisa G. has posted the past several weeks. Sorry I don't know where the images are from as Lisa gets photos from so many great places I can't keep up. This first card I did using the Crumpled Shimmers tech from Aug. 07 Technique Junkies. I used stamps from TAC, Impression Obsession, and and unknown photo stamp.
Look at these cuties! I thought the card with these little guys HAD to be done in Faux Denim! From the Dec. 07 Technique Junkies. The "loved" stamp is from SU. Just wish I could make knots the same on both sides, that and bows are like a thorn in my side!
Of course one of Lisas own techs, Oil Pastel Gesso from Feb. 08 Technique Junkies. Stamps on this are See Ds and Innovative Stamp Creations.
No stamps on this one, just another junkie tech. Metallic Alcohol Roll from Oct. 07.

Catching Up

There are benefits to waking up several hours before the kids. I had fallen behind on making sneak peak cards for the new release of the German stamps from Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela. Click HERE to go to the German preorder combo page!! Today I woke up at 4:30 so I got up and threw a few cards together. This first one is Lyles beautiful grandmother as a baby. I used both German sets, and the Golden Daffodils on this.

How are you? Both German sets here, along with my new CB embossing folder, and some yummy new ribbon.
Happy Easter! For this Easter card I did not want to use the browns and beiges again, but I didn't want it to be too bright either. So I dug out my SU color wheel and these colors were on it. Almost Amethyst, Rose Red, Always Artichoke, So Saffron, and it even had Pumpkin Pie which I did not use.
